How to Begin

s Determine a budget

s Repetition is the key to a successful advertising campaign

s Follow the three-time frequency rule - this builds awareness and gives credibility

s Allocate your budget to include advertising in three or more issues per years.

s Visual exposure throughout the year yields the best results

s Readers will begin to depend on you

Designing Your Ad

s Tell readers what they need to know about your product

s Know your competition; explain what sets your product apart from the others

s Catch the reader=s attention - with a photograph, color, strong artwork

s Make it easy to contact you - phone number, email, web site address

s We will design your ad for a one-time fee of $50, which is about a third of our cost to have an artist design the ad - for this service we will retain the right to the design - meaning you cannot place the ad in another publication without our permission. (You will be able to make minor changes/corrections to the ad, i.e. new phone number or website, but major changes will require a redesign fee.)

s Or you can have your ad professionally designed by an agency near you - we can provide a set of ad specifications to give to your designer.

Common Questions

Do positioning, size, and color vs. black and white make a difference?

s Generally in a niche publication the placement does not affect readership. A strong design will perform well in any placement. Size can be important, however, both in helping the reader find your ad and in giving sufficient space to convey your message effectively.

Back of the magazine vs. front of the magazine?

s According to a Time Marketing Report, 67 percent of readers start reading the magazine from some place other than the front.

Do color and size make a difference?

s Absolutely! Bigger is better, and color definitely attracts more attention than black and white. You customer needs to be able to find and identify you and your ad quickly.

If I have to choose among repetition, a larger ad, or color in my ad, which would be the best choice: Repetition, regardless of size or color. The size and color add effectiveness to your ad, but repetition reminds the reader that you are dependable.

Why Advertise in a Special Interest Magazine?

s A remarkable characteristic of niche magazines is that the readers choose to read the ads.

s Special interest magazines deliver targeted, quality audiences with purchasing power.
