Prepare
Ahead for Popovers
by
Margaret Guthrie
One of the holiday
season’s best gifts
is the time we
spend with friends and
family we don’t often see
the rest of the year. We
might host an annual
holiday luncheon or buffet,
but sometimes we’re
delighted by surprise
visitors—my daughter calls
them “popovers”—who
are caught up in the social
spirit or just happen to be
in town for a day.
You can make the most
of these opportunities to
catch up with old friends
by planning ahead. The
following recipes range
from appetizers for a quick
visit to entrees and dessert
for those who can stay
longer. Not only do these
dishes freeze well for up to
a month, they will also
keep for several days in the
refrigerator. By spending
some extra time in the
kitchen now, you can be a
gracious host later and
truly enjoy your guests.
