James Robert Dell of Oatka Leather was born and raised in the Genesee River Valley south of Rochester in western New York. His love of the outdoors and local history led him to get involved in 18th-Century re-enacting in the early 1980s.
Leatherwork was a natural outgrowth of his hobby, and he has supplied Gen-Nis-He-Yo Trading Co. with a variety of handmade leather goods.
