Most of the toys and dolls of early American do not survive. They were loved to death. The modern pieces are done in the styles and techniques of the originals. Many are meant for collectors and decorators, made with such skill and care they are priced beyond the means of most kids. But some crafters make primitive toys meant to be played with for the same enjoyment as was provided by the period pieces. They are not GameBoys but may provide as many minutes of entertainment.
