MR. KIM THOMAS

Biography      Work Samples      Hallmark

Kim Thomas has worked at his coal-fueled forge with anvil and hammer for two decades replicating items from the seventeenth and eighteenth century. His internal fire is fueled by a life-long passion for thoroughly researching the ancient forgotten skills of the master blacksmiths and a reverence for historic ironwork.

Following the iron working traditions of his Early American ancestors Thomas uses the fire, hammerm and anvil as the essential tools for creating authentic hand-wrought pieces that truly capture the look and feel of the early originals.

Working to achieve historical accuracy Kim puts emphasis on joinery, texture, beauty and utility. Creating true works of art in metal that are as beautiful as the works of the past.

Thomas’s experience with restoring original masterworks has given him a glimpse inside the heads of the craftsmen of old, enabling him to design and execute ironwork with the same spirit as the originals. Masterfully utilizing materials and techniques that preserve the original integrity, Thomas offers ironwork that is forged with the same finesse and detail as the masters of antiquity.
