Tony Baker, a native of central Indiana, has been weaving for about twelve years, claiming he just woke up one day and decided that was what he should be doing. He has found this work, called Baker’s Bundles, to be an interesting and enjoyable journey. Always a hands-on person, he further refined his weaving by using natural dyes.
A re-enactor for about 25 years, he was drawn to the two-panel blanket because it would have been made in small communities and at the edges of the frontier. The character he portrays would more than likely have toted one of these blankets, so he weaves frontier-style blankets with, of course, natural dyes.
