Portrait of Carl & Marcia Giordano

Carl and Marcia Giordano are dedicated to keeping alive the centuries-old art of tinsmithing. They handcraft each piece of tinware in their Ohio tinshop using the tools and techniques of 18th- and 19th-Century tinsmiths.

Both of the Giordanos earned degrees in music from Bowling Green State University. Carl taught music in Ohio public and parochial schools for 30 years before retiring in 1997. He served as master tinsmith at Historic Zoar Village for six years.

Museums and historic sites across the country have selected the couple’s work for its quality and historical accuracy, selling it in their shops and using it in interpretations. The National Park Service commissioned them to make several pieces to be used aboard The Friendship, a reproduction of an 18th-Century sailing ship now docked at Salem Maritime National Historic Site in Massachusetts.

Several motion picture studios have used their work in major films including Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World and all three Pirates of the Caribbean films. HBO commissioned several pieces for the miniseries John Adams. Their work has adorned the White House Blue Room Christmas Tree and the Ohio Governor’s Residence Christmas Tree.

The Giordanos participated in many craft fairs over the years and now concentrate on demonstrating and selling their work at Revolutionary War re-enactments, most of which are located in the original 13-colony states.
