Susan Parris has been creating things all her life—whether drawing, sewing, or just trying something new. Since 1989, she has researched and re-created historically accurate full-size garments from the 15th Century through World War II as a living historian. Her interest was not in the politics or famous faces of an era but rather how people from all levels of society lived throughout history.
She crafted her first figure in 1990 without any formal training. She had seen an art doll that she wanted but could not afford, so she decided to make it herself, never imagining where it would eventually lead her.
