Lois Kessler first became aware of Sailors' Valentines on a trip to Nantucket. She saw them on visits to Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. Because she was a dental hygienist she was used to working in small areas, and knew with some direction she could make Sailors' Valentines. Kessler attended a two day class in Guilford taught by Susan Hennigan and had a delightful time creating her own Sailors' Valentines.
Kessler came from a creative family, she had a jewelry business, Ornamental Designs and for many years also made small nautical wall quilts. Her path has taken another turn on the road called Sailors' Valentine and she hopes to travel that path for many years to come.
